Description/Common Knowledge
During the gods war Wakboth mustered a mighty army commanded by his children - the
demons. These mighty generals were free to make up their fighting units by whatever
means they could. One of he most powerful demons was Cacodemon; his soldiers were
his own children, the Fiends and Ogres.
When Urox slew the Devil, Cacodemon was too cunning to be caught and escaped with
his children to continue the undoing of the world. In order to feed his children,
Cacodemon tricked other more stupid gods into creating copies of his own children.
Cacodemon gave these humans to his children as food.
After the Devil died, Cacodemon re-grouped his mighty army and conquered much of
Genertela. His rule was a good time for the Ogres.
The trolls aided by Waha eventually railed against Cacodemon and tried to kill him
but instead, just banished him to the other side.
Since time
Ogres continue to live within the society of the humans and to eat them. Eating
sentient beings - especially Humans - is the most direct form of worship followers
of Cacodemon use to venerate their god. When an initiate of Cacodemon uses the
Anarchy affinity to eat a foe, the soul of the victim is sent straight to the
Cacodemon.
Cacodemon's secret is that of summoning one of his fiends - a primal ogre from
the god's war. Devotees of Cacodemon who have learnt the secret of summon fiend are
called Talons of Cacodemon other Ogres who are initiates of Cacodemon can recognize
a Talon instinctively.
| Entry Requirements: |
None, all are welcome to follow the Cacodemon's path and spread Chaos and
disorder throughout the world. Ogres can worship the cacodemon instinctively and
can be considered to be initiates of the cult when they are born. Existing
initiates can initiate all other races into the Cacodemon cult. |
| Physical Abilities: |
Create disguise, Impersonate, Intimidate. |
| Mental Abilities: |
Know Cacodemon Myth, Lie, Know Others' Myths (always improvised versus a
specific foreign cult, the more esoteric or alien to the Cacodemonist, the harder
the test). |
| Affinities: |
Anarchy (Initiate to Cacodemon, Spread dissent, Direct fiend,
Eat foe/Worship Cacodemon)
The Eat Foe/Worship Cacodemon feat is the means by which the Cacodemon continues
to survive with such a small following. When a worshiper of cacodemon eats one
of his foes, successful use of this feat sends their soul directly to Cacodemon.
Deception (Hide appearance, Hide Chaos Feature, Lie, Conceal Bolt Hole,
Steal Affinity D+10)
Steal Affinity is used to falsely participate in worship a foreign god. The
cacodemon can act as an initiate receiving one use of that god's affinities for
each time they are worshipped. The Cacodemon initiates cannot perform the worship
themselves; they must infiltrate an organized act of worship. Of course, the feat
does not grant knowledge of the correct rituals and myths but other deception
feats or improvisations can be used instead. |
| Secret: |
Summon Fiend (D+20) A Fiend of cacodemon is a huge demon in the form
of Cacodemon himself, up to 30 feet tall with a thin deformed body and huge claws
at the end of wasted arms. Abilities of a particular fiend depend upon the skill
and success of the talon that summons the fiend. A fiend is relatively mindless
and will try to spread disorder as quickly and widely as possible. The summoning
Talon should try to control the fiend to make it carry out his wishes. |

| Worshippers: |
Cacodemon's worshippers are mainly ogres but anyone is welcome to spread
his anarchy and help the undoing of the world. Only true Ogres may dedicate
themselves to Cacodemon. |
| Manifestations: |
Cacodemon is depicted either as a very powerful Ogre or as a huge demonic
monster with a withered body and claws instead of hands. |
| Other Side: |
When a worshiper of Cacodemon dies, the Cacodemon consumes his spirit
just as the worshiper consumed the bodies of others on the mundane plane. |
| Holy Places: |
There are many holy places for the Cacodemon throughout Glorantha; these
are either places where the Cacodemon himself performed some act or, just places
where someone else performed an act that the Cacodemon feels sympathy for. |
| Disadvantages: |
In order to maintain their lifestyle and their God, worshipers of cacodemon
must live within human society. The Ogres worship Cacodemon by killing and eating
human beings. This obviously makes them extremely unpopular. Any Ogre who makes
himself known to humans would be instantly put to death by most cultures. This
makes meeting other Ogres very difficult and hence the cult is very badly
organized.
The Cacodemon offers only one type of divine aid. When a talon of Cacodemon dies,
he can request that a fiend is sent to consume his soul and continue spreading
destruction in his place. This fiend will remain on the mundane plane for several
hours after the talon dies. Initiates receive no divine aid.
When a worshiper of Cacodemon comes within eight kilometers of a place holy to
the Cacodemon he loses all self-control and succumbs to his primal urges to eat
humans. |
| Notes: |
A soul that has been eaten by Cacodemon as part of the Worship Cacodemon
feat can be rescued and sent to hell by performing a Hero Quest. Thus, in order
to resurrect someone who has been eaten by an ogre, two Hero Quests are required -
one to rescue the unfortunate victim's soul from Cacodemon and send it to hell,
then the normal Hero quest to retrieve the soul from hell. |
