Donandar the Musician

By Alexandre Lanciani

Note! This is a fan contribution. The information has been superceded by official material.

[Theist] [Celestial Religion] [Yelm] [Donandar] [Harmony]

Even if Donandar is far from being a Greater God, his cult is divided in many sub-cults that mirror the variety of his worshippers' interests. As the name implies, this one is composed mainly by musicians, because it focuses on myths representing Donandar as bringer of a universally recognized fundamental element of music: Harmony. In particular members know the story of how Donandar's music rallied the surviving Deities of the different, and until then hostile, Pantheons, against Chaos, the common enemy, at the end of the Greater Darkness. So members believe that music saved the world then, and still does, and that their mission is to spread Harmony through music and entertainment.

Entry Requirements: know at least one musical ability at a professional level (17+).
Mental Abilities: Myths of Donandar, Musical Theories, Compose.
Affinities: Music (Battle Song, Entrancing Music, Flattering Hymn, Trust Theme).
Secret: Harmonize (Used as an Affinity to improvise feats of Harmony, such as turning foes into friends or coordinating group actions - in general helping people work together).
Sacrifices: Donandar likes to be offered new music, and the more this music communicates the more the sacrifice is appreciated. But a spectacular performance is welcomed as well. Lately, customs' decadence has led some worshippers to sacrifice body parts in order to improve their abilities.
Worshippers: Mostly musicians, usually in some noble's employ, but in general everybody who makes a living with music. The cult is also a friendly society that helps unrecognized musical geniuses in need - sort of a very altruistic and upright music company.
Manifestations: the musician aspect of Donandar can be found wherever and whenever people are together in harmony, behaving like a single body or a single mind, like a musical ensemble or a dance group. You can feel Donandar's power when your soul's strings vibrate responding to a resonant musical excitation.
Other Side: Donandar's abode is the Palace of Music, a beautiful building within the Imperial Palace's precinct. From there worshippers can enter the Storm Age to travel with bands of other entertainers such as the Puppeteers or they can enter the Greater Darkness to help Donandar reunite the scattered surviving Deities for the final battle against Chaos.
Other Connections: Recognized as a professional entertainer. Donandari are welcomed by Celestial, Earth and Storm worshippers in virtue of Donandar's connections to these Pantheons through his brothers, and by followers of Chalana Arroy and Kyger Litor, whom the god befriended during the Darkness.
Disadvantages: As worshippers believe in the divine inspiration behind their musical concepts, they are usually surprised when they discover that these are hardly universal. After all, music is cultural, as is musical taste.
