Hardeye Flintnail was an unusual Mostali, and did not follow his kin when they withdrew from contact with other races. He is believed to have taught many groups of humans the secrets of working with metals. When Flintnail came to this region with Pavis, he and his dwarf followers were closely involved with constructing the city whose ruins are now known as the 'Big Rubble'. Since they re-opened for business last century, those people who have experience with dwarfs see them as only one step removed from the Openhandists of Dwarf Mine in Sartar. Those who do not know dwarfs perceive them as strange creatures whose language is tainted by odd concepts, and who live only in order to labour in metal and stone in return for money and goods. Before the Lunars came the dwarfs were common above ground in New Pavis engaged in a variety of activities, but these days are usually only seen there on business.

Entry Requirements: To be one of the dwarfs of the city of Pavis, or an invited human worshipper of Pavis.
Mental Abilities: Myths of Flintnail, Dwarf Masonry Lore
Physical Abilities: Hammer and Shield
Affinities: Earth and Stone Magic (Camouflage Entrance, Cut and Dress Stone, Know Direction within Old City, Shift Stonework, Support Structure)
Shape <Metal> (Bend <metal>, Heat <metal>, Mould <metal>, Strengthen <metal>)
Secret: Mechanics (Even the dumbest dwarf in the Cult of Flintnail knows how to build or repair a simple mechanism. Those who know this secret may attempt to safely understand any mechanical item through examination, even one not of dwarf manufacture. This acts as an integrated passion spirit, giving a bonus of 1/4 the target number to any appropriate skill used to understand or adjust a device of mechanical manufacture.)
Worshippers: All of the Pavic dwarfs, and their most valued human assistants. Humans must be worshippers of Pavis before they can also join the Flintnail Cult, however cult duties overlap so greatly that all are met within the 30% of one's time spent performing them. (Although this does not include special Flintnail training.)
Other Side: Flintnail welcomes all loyal cultists as assistants in his workshop that stands alongside his Great Quarry. Worshippers may visit Pavis' Palace from here.
Other Connections: All Flintnail Cultists are on good terms with the Pavis Cult in the Old City, and through them are accepted or tolerated by the friends of Pavis. Bizarre speculations of some 'Grand Project' underway in their chambers beneath the Old City, arise from time to time, but are never taken seriously.
Disadvantages: The cult's influence is mainly restricted to within, and adjacent to, the walls of Old City.
