Pavis was a hero and visionary from the Empire of the Wyrm's Friends. He
learned from the Earth worshippers the story of lost Genert, from the Elves
the ways of growing, and from the Dwarfs the ways of stone. He had the gifts
of making friends, bringing opposing sides together, and inspiring others
with the enthusiasm of his dreams. It is fairly well known that Pavis was
a half-elf, and this unusual state of being is widely believed to have been
a result of unusual magic available during the days of the bizarre 'EWF'.
Pavis liberated the ruins of Robcradle from the nomads and
giants, and allied with many of his new neighbors, including the local
Earth Tribe. When the city was securely founded, Pavis, who had exhausted
himself to realise this dream, retired into the place of myths, where he
joined the ranks of the old gods. Unfortunately those who continued his work
were not so skilled as Pavis and his original companions, and their mythic
explorations backfired catastrophically on the city. Pavis is still able
to watch over his people and provide them with some powers, but the
wondrous dreams and spectacular magics of the city's heyday are now
but folk-tales.

| Secret: |
This information describes only the public face of the cult.
Worshippers at this level are blissfully unaware of the
Pavis Secret. |
| Worshippers: |
Residents of Pavis. |
| Other Side: |
The Cult of Pavis guarantees no afterlife to its members, but promises
to follow the preferred funeral customs of the dead as closely as is possible. |
| Other Connections: |
Flintnail is a firm friend, and Zola Fel is a close ally. The local Temples
of Orlanth, Ernalda, Issaries, and Humakt are amongst those who also affirm
Pavis' custodianship over the city. In the Old City some connection remains
with the Cult of Aldrya through the Elves of the Garden, but this is
little evidenced save when Elves come to the Real City to sing to the orchards
there on certain Pavis Holy Days. It is evident that the
Pavis Priesthood have access to wider cult magic than the
ordinary members, but rumours that there are circles of membership
within the Cult granting access to ancient lore of the Earth and the forbidden
magics of the Dragons are fanciful indeed. |
| Benefits: |
The Cult time requirement is only 10%. Participation in major
ceremonies, agreement to serve in the city's defence if required, upholding
civic order, and various minor duties as requested by the Cult, fulfil this.
The rest of the requirement is made up by living as a good citizen whilst
engaged in one's daily life. (Consequently there are many who retain worship
of another deity alongside Pavis.) Cultists may employ Flintnail crafters
at discounted rates, and may also, if considered suitable, pay to be apprenticed
to the Flintnail dwarves to learn masonry and metalwork. |
| Disadvantages: |
This is a City Cult, and Pavis' magic works only within the city and
Pavis County. Back when the Old City was at strength, the Cult magic worked
across the whole of Prax, but by the troll invasion was restricted to within
the Great Walls. Only since the arrival of Dorasar, and Pavis' association
to the Storm Pantheon, has his magic become effective in Pavis County once
again.
Worshippers must pay their taxes as part of their cult obligations, or face
excommunication or heavy fines. |
